Morocco Uncovered
Bordering both the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, the North African country of Morocco boasts a magnificent coastline that is hard to contend with, making for a unique, unparalleled African holiday experience.
Travel to the northern Mediterranean region of Morocco. Here you'll uncover the magnificent sea port of Tangier. As the main port of call between Africa and Europe, this fascinating city is home to an eclectic mix of African, Spanish and French peoples. Famed for its beautiful vistas, unspoiled beaches, ancient monuments, exotic food and friendly people, Tangier has much to offer its guests.
Explore the North Atlantic Coast, home to Morocco's capital city, Rabat. There are many things to see and do in Rabat. As with all Moroccan cities you'll find its hidden treasures as you wonder through the ancient streets and speak with locals. Casablanca is another fascinating city that is worth a visit. And if you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle, be sure to make your way to the more laid back beach towns nearby, like the small beach town of Asilah - home to picture-perfect shores and vibrant music festivals.
Like Asilah, the Moroccan South Atlantic Coast is more laid back, home to attractive beach towns like Essaouira and Agadir. Agadir boasts a more modern beach setting with many natural parks and secluded beaches. Essaouira on the other hand, offers a more rustic and authentic Moroccan beach experience.
Morocco's High Atlas region is another must-see. Famed for its breathtaking mountain ranges, magnificent ski resorts, mountain hiking trails and indigenous Berber culture, it's not hard to see why Morocco's High Atlas region is one of Africa's most popular tourist attractions. When touring the High Atlas region, be sure to visit the city of Marrakesh - the third largest city in Morocco after Casablanca and Rabat. Divided into two regions, namely the historical Medina and the modern Gueliz or Ville Nouvelle, Marrakesh offers travellers a chance to discover old Morocco alongside a modern Eurocentric setting.
The Middle Atlas region is home to the former capital of Morocco, Fez - one of the oldest and largest medieval cities in the world. Here you'll discover one of the world's best-preserved old cities of the Arab world, namely the medina (old Arab quarter) of Fes el-Bali. You'll discover ancient ruins in among the maze-like medina of colourful leather-dying pits.
Don't forget to visit the vast desert region of Saharan. Explore the oasis towns and small villages scattered haphazardly across a never-ending stretch of desert sand. For the more adventurous at heart, explore the infinite sand dunes by camel safari. There are also desert camping tours available for those who wish to live out a true desert experience.
Lastly, be sure to visit the Anti Atlas, the southernmost section of Morocco. Here you'll discover rural Morocco and its indigenous peoples - and probably the best place to eat authentic Moroccan cuisine.
