What Is The Best Way To Get From Heathrow to Gatwick?

Travelling By Coach

The National Express operates a direct link between Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, with up to six services per hour. This proves to be the quickest and most economical way between the two airports. The adult single fare is £19.50 and the journey time is approximately 75 minutes.

Where To Catch The Coaches


Terminals 1 and 3:

All coach services call at the central bus station which is a short walk from the terminals. The bus station is open 24 hours a day and the travel centre is open from 06:00 to 22:30.

Terminal 4:

Coaches arrive and depart from Stops 13 and 14 which are located outside the terminal, at the Arrivals level. Free transfers to the central bus station and Terminal 5 can be made from Stop 7.

Terminal 5:

Coaches arrive and depart from Stops 13-16 which are located outside the terminal, at the Arrivals level. There is a National Express ticket office inside the terminal, at International Arrivals. Reading RailAir, Oxford Express and Woking Railair coach services operate from Stops 10-12. Free transfers to the central bus station and Terminal 4 can be caught at Stops 8 and 9.

Travelling By Train

Heathrow Express

If you want to get closer to central London quickly, you can catch the Heathrow Express to Paddington station. It will cost around £26.00 for an express class single. To make a booking, simply visit the Heathrow Express website.

Once you arrive at Paddington station, you can catch a National Rail train for approximate £4.00 to London Victoria. Once at London Victoria, you can take the Gatwick Express straight to Gatwick.The cost of the entire journey will be approximately £35 and the travelling time will be just under an hour if you catch the fast train from Paddington to Victoria.

Gatwick Express

Non-stop Gatwick Express trains run every 15 minutes between Gatwick and London Victoria with a journey time of approximately 30 minutes to Gatwick South Terminal. Please take note that there are no trains to Gatwick North Terminal - a free transfer service operates between the South and North Terminal. The cost is £15.20 for an express class single. Underground

If you want to travel between London Victoria and Heathrow by tube, you will use the Piccadilly line and change to the Victoria line at Green park. Please note, however, that this is one of the slowest ways between the two airports, although it can be cost-effective if you use an Oyster card.

Standard Rail

You can also travel by rail to Gatwick from Feltham by changing at Clapham Junction. The 285 bus operates between Heathrow central bus station and Feltham. For more information visit the Transport for London website.

Where To Catch The Trains


Terminals 1 and 3:

Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect trains use Heathrow Central station. Underground services use Heathrow Terminals 1 and 3 station. Both are in the central area between the terminals, a few minutes' walk from check-in and arrivals.

Terminal 4:

The Heathrow Connect and London Underground stations are both located in the basement of the terminal. Heathrow Express passengers should use Heathrow Connect for a free transfer to Heathrow Central.

Terminal 5:

The Terminal 5 rail station, conveniently located in the basement of the terminal, is served by Heathrow Express and London Underground trains. Heathrow Connect passengers can use Heathrow Express for a free transfer to Heathrow Central.
