How Can I Get From Heathrow Airport To Central London?

There are several transport options available to you to reach central London from Heathrow Airport:

By Express Train

Heathrow Express

This service offers four trains per hour to Paddington Station. The journey takes only 15 - 20 minutes. For more information please call 0845 6001515.

By Coach

National Express

National Express runs coaches from Heathrow Airport to central London . These buses run all around the UK and operate from the Heathrow Airport Central bus station. Simply catch the London Connect to the bus station from either Terminal 3 or 4.

This coach service takes about 35 - 60 minutes and there are three coaches per hour travelling to central London.

Dot2Dot

This is a London hotel transfer service from Heathrow Airport. This business class minibus transfer service offers commuters a touch of luxury with its comfortable seating. All Dot2Dot buses are also equipped with flight information, Wi-Fi access and air conditioning.

Dot2Dot information desks are available in Terminals 1, 3, 4 and 5 at Heathrow. This service runs 24 hours a day.

Buses Around London

Most buses around London are low-floor, meaning that they are easy to board because they are on the same level as pavements. You can now use Oyster cards on bus routes.

By Train

Heathrow Connect

This train service operates between Terminals 1, 2 and 3. It travels via five stations in London, takes just 25 minutes and operates every 30 minutes.

By Tube

You can take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow Airport, which connects to many major services in central London. By Taxi

A taxi journey from Heathrow Airport to central London takes about 45 - 60 minutes and should cost between £45 - £70.

By Car

Whether you have decided to use car hire or airport parking, travelling to central London by car should take about 45 - 60 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Directions:

  • Terminal 1, 2 or 3: Follow the exit signs to the access/ exit barriers. This will take you to the A4. Follow signs for the M4.
  • Terminal 4: At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Swansea road, keep left and you'll get onto the A30; continue on this road and then take a slight left onto the A312. At the next roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the M4.
  • Terminal 5: Exit the airport at the first roundabout, keep right and you'll end up on the M25, exit at junction 15 for the M4.
  • The M4 - this will take you to central London

Please note: If you are driving, you will have to pay a Congestion Charge. This will cost about £8 and is applied between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

By Bicycle

You can also save petrol and money by using a bicycle to get to central London. Bicycles are permitted in the London Underground, however some lines only allow folding bicycles during peak hours.
