What Should I Do If I Miss My Flight?
Unforeseen circumstances, delayed public transport or bad weather - missing a flight is a common problem with travellers around the world. There are options available to you however, and missing a flight is by no means the end of the road for you.
So What Can I Do?
If you miss a connecting flight to your destination, your luggage should still arrive on time. If this does occur, the airline will gladly book you on the next flight to the same destination. They'll even use another airline to get you there if they have to!
If there is a family emergency and you were unable to make it in time for your flight, your travel insurance will normally cover you for costs incurred. Ensure that you read your policy wording thoroughly and speak to a consultant from your travel insurance company if this happens.
If you are late for a flight, immediately report to the airline's reception desk and explain the situation to the staff there. They will be able to inform you about alternative flight options and will also be able to provide you with the necessary documentation. Keep all of this documentation so there aren't any problems when you land at your destination.
You will probably incur a penalty charge if you miss your flight without valid reason but you will still be scheduled onto the next available flight.
