Can I Wear Skirts In Qatar?

Compared to other countries in the Middle East, Qatar is deemed a bit more liberal. Qatari females are allowed to drive and there are no laws requiring them to wear traditional attire. They are also more relaxed when it comes to Western travellers and their dress sense.

That being said, many Qatari men and women will still dress according to Islamic traditions, which requires them to cover up certain parts of the body. To show respect for their beliefs, we recommend foreign travellers, especially women and girls, to dress in clothes that don't expose too much skin. This includes wearing skirts that cover the knees, t-shirts that have sleeves and no tank tops.

Clothes should also never be of a see-through material and should fit loosely. Dressing this way while you are abroad will show your respect for the country you are visiting, and will ensure that you don't attract any unwanted attention.
